Our visit to Covedale Elementary to meet with StEP students
spca cincinnati visited Covedale Elementary on October 26 to visit with kids who are part of the Economic Center UC StEP Program. StEP is a nationally recognized elementary school program that addresses classroom engagement and skills related to entrepreneurship, critical-thinking, and financial responsibility. Elementary students earn school currency for positive behaviors such as completing homework on time, arriving at school on time, showing academic achievement, behaving well, etc. They have an opportunity to purchase items with their currency, save and earn interest, or donate to a charity of the school’s choice. The kids, along with Economic Center UC StEP, chose to donate $574.86 to us!
We had a wonderful time showing them and teaching them about our animals! spca cininnati Trustee Peter Alpaugh, a supporter of the StEP program, was on hand for the event as well as our friends at Johnson Investment Counsel. Here are some photos from the visit.
